Tapovan

A Blessing for the Deprived!

Tapovan represents humanitarian oneness with the under-privileged and sublimity in human endeavour. A freedom fighter and humanist Dr. Shivajirao Patwardhan set it up in 1950 to restore humanity to the de-humanised leprosy patient to remove stigma, fear and ignorance about the disease and to make the victim self-reliant by earning his/her own livelihood.

Today Tapovan proves to the world that dignified rehabilitation- a capacity to earn one's living is the path to the restoration of humanity. The Vidarbha Maharogi Seva Mandal,Tapovan looks after leprosy-affectd children and the children of leprosy patients, who are treated and given education in our school. Tapovan develops interaction between the healthy visitors and the inmates to ward off the ignorance and lessen the rigours of the stigma.
